Rural Electrification Project
With Wongchu's effort, a small generator run electric power station has been setup in Chyangba Village. A total of 103 houses have been directly benefited by this power supply. A small sum of Rs. 25 per month is charged per house. This amount goes towards the salary of two locally trained staff to ensure the day to day operation of the power station.
This project has brought some drastic change in the health of the local people. Before this station was built, locals were using kerosene wick lamp which created a household pollution giving cough, asthma and other heart born diseases.
People of three villages namely Sisa Khola, Chyangba and Chepte Khola, has directly benefited from this power station.
"For us this electricity is like god." says Iman Magar (48) "Our children can now read with electricity."
